Originally a traditional and cluttered Hualien fishing port, it has gradually transformed into a multifunctional tourist attraction in recent years. The architecture of Sun Plaza presents a Southern European Mediterranean style, forming a striking contrast with the adjacent Hualien Fishing Port. Unlike the usual noisy and crowded places, this spot offers a more relaxing and leisurely atmosphere, allowing visitors to converse with nature and enjoy the comfort brought by the sunshine and sea breeze.

Formerly known as Bird Step Stone Plaza, Sun Plaza has a ground-floor square lined with shops offering local specialties, while the second floor provides guesthouses for tourists to rest. There’s also a three-story observation deck nearby, where you can watch fishing boats come and go up close and gaze at the Pacific Ocean scenery in the distance — a truly picturesque view.
