The Boeing 747-400 was first introduced by EVA Air in November 1992 and served as the main long-haul aircraft model in the airline’s early years, undertaking numerous significant flights. Known as the “Queen of the Skies,” the 747 features a distinctive double-deck cabin design at the front, making it one of the most recognizable planes in the world and the first wide-body commercial airliner ever. Over the past few decades, it has been a flagship aircraft for major airlines on long-haul routes. During its 25 years with EVA Air, the airline acquired a total of 7 all-passenger 747-400s, 8 747-400 Combi (passenger-freighter) models, and 3 747-400 freighters, building a fleet of 18 747s.

In its future fleet planning, EVA Air will continue to focus on the Boeing 777-300ER as its main aircraft type and will begin introducing the Boeing 787 Dreamliner from the second half of 2018, becoming Taiwan’s first airline to operate the 787. By the end of 2022, a total of 24 Dreamliners are expected to join the fleet, significantly expanding capacity and route networks and offering passengers more comfortable and convenient travel.

The new (third-generation) uniform series of EVA Air features a primary color palette of tourmaline green. During the two-year design process, SHIATZY CHEN arranged for its design team to closely observe flight and cabin crew operations on multiple occasions. Every detail reflects thoughtful and creative design—combining aesthetics and elegant style while ensuring greater comfort, ease of movement, and task performance for wearers. The uniforms incorporate a refined touch and high-fashion sensibility, with subtle accents of pink, red, and teal in small pleats, striking a balance between understated elegance and eye-catching highlights.
The new uniforms take inspiration from the triangular shape of airplane wings. For example, the three-dimensional, fluttering cut of the collar on the women’s uniform symbolizes EVA Air’s global reach.
Using “tourmaline green” as the dominant hue, contrasting colors are applied to the collar, sleeve cuffs, and back slit of dresses to denote different job ranks. For example, among flight attendants, light green collars represent general staff, pink collars indicate deputy pursers, and red collars denote pursers. For female ground staff, general staff also wear light green collars, while red denotes supervisory roles. The front and pockets of in-flight aprons are inspired by the shape of outstretched wings, stylized into abstract triangular decorations.
