Nantou County boasts abundant natural landscapes, and its classic hiking trails are popular spots for watching sunrises and sea of clouds. Forests have also become a hot destination for travelers. Whether it’s the previously famous Forest of Bliss or the refreshing and tranquil Lulin Mountain Trail, they’re all beloved. Now, the ginkgo trail in Nantou is nearing completion.

Located at the border between Lugu Township and Zhushan Township, the Daye Shan Ginkgo Forest in Lugu Township is near Sclinxi and Xitou Forest Recreation Area. Situated at an altitude of 1,300–1,600 meters, it enjoys a cool climate and is perpetually shrouded in mist. The area is part of the renowned Sclinxi high-mountain tea cultivation zone. If you want to admire the ever-changing mountain mists, experience walking amidst the clouds, or enjoy the summit of a high mountain, this is the perfect place. And with the upcoming completion of the ginkgo trail, anticipation is building.

Daye Shan has over 80 hectares of ginkgo forest. Ginkgo, known as a living fossil, grows slowly and is nicknamed the “grandfather-grandson tree” because it takes generations to bear fruit. In spring, the ginkgo forest sprouts fresh green leaves; in summer, it turns lush green; in autumn, golden yellow; and in winter, the silver-white leaves create a stunning seasonal color display, becoming one of the area’s main landscape features.

The upcoming ginkgo trail and its facilities will include a 325-meter ginkgo trail, two rest platforms, and a 92-meter connecting trail. In addition to enjoying the beautiful scenery, visitors can also explore the tea plantations, sip tea, and take in the vast mountain views, drawing significant attention.
