Also known as Dutch City, Baimi Barrel Fort is located on the west bank of Keelung Harbor and is a municipal-designated historical site. Together with the fort on the east bank, it helped defend the harbor. It is said that both the Spanish and the Dutch once built castles here. Its construction dates back to the Sino-French War period, hence the name Dutch City Fort. The current structure was rebuilt by Japanese forces during the Russo-Japanese War in the Japanese colonial era and holds significant historical importance.
