Taiping Cloud Ladder in Chiayi is Taiwan’s longest scenic suspension bridge, featuring a single span of 281 meters. Situated in Taiping Village, Meishan Township, at an altitude of 1,000 meters, it provides panoramic views of the Chianan Plain stretching to the Taiwan Strait, making it a nationally acclaimed new attraction. The Alishan National Scenic Area Administration has scheduled the inauguration ceremony for the morning of September 23, with public access to the bridge starting at 1:30 PM that afternoon. The ticket booking system will open for pre-sales at 10 AM on September 4.

The route from Meishan to Taiping features as many as 36 sharp curves and narrow roadways. To ensure a quality visitor experience, the Alishan Administration has implemented a pre-sale and crowd control system, and has set up a dedicated tourism website for the Taiping Cloud Ladder. All tickets must be purchased online via this site—no on-site ticket sales will be available. Visitors can register for an account on the website, select their mode of transport, preferred time slot, ticket type, and quantity, then complete the pre-purchase with a credit card.

To promote tourism in the Four Taiping Villages and surrounding areas, discounted tickets priced at NT$100 will be available from the inauguration on September 23, 2017 (106 year in Taiwan calendar), through the end of 2018 (107 year). The Alishan Administration also urges visitors to plan their trips in advance and purchase tickets before arriving. Travelers can also explore nearby attractions and specialty shops around the cloud ladder to experience the region’s rich cultural heritage and unique landscapes.
