HOTEL WO Boutique Hotel in Kaohsiung Will No Longer Accept Mainland Tour Groups Starting July

Due to the decline in the number of mainland tour groups visiting Taiwan, HOTEL WO in Kaohsiung’s Qianjin District revealed that, considering the overall environment and profit concerns, it will no longer accept mainland tour groups starting July. In the future, the hotel will shift its focus to package tours from regions such as Hong Kong, Macau, Europe, and the United States. As for individual travelers, the hotel is targeting independent mainland travelers and visitors from central and northern Taiwan.

A HOTEL WO public relations representative explained that mainland tour groups previously accounted for about 20–30% of room bookings, but in the financial statements, their profits were not particularly outstanding. Additionally, after these guests checked out, the hotel sometimes had to carry out extra repairs due to various issues. Coupled with the recent decline in mainland tour groups visiting Taiwan, the hotel decided to stop accepting them starting July.

The PR representative pointed out that the hotel had actually been gradually adjusting the proportion of group guests since January this year. While the number of mainland tour groups decreased in May, the real challenge is expected to begin in July and August. Therefore, the hotel made the above adjustments in response to the overall environment. The PR rep also emphasized that while the hotel will not be receiving mainland tour groups starting July, independent mainland travelers are still very welcome—indeed, independent travelers generally demonstrate higher quality.
