Not Just the Most Beautiful at Duoliang: 68 Train-Chasing Photography Hotspots Along Taiwan’s East Coast

In recent years, Taiwan Railways has launched a variety of colorful special trains, which resemble beautiful moving landscapes and have become popular subjects for photography enthusiasts and railfans, adding a fresh appeal to Taiwan Railways’ tourism. The railway authority has also recently conducted a preliminary survey and compiled a list of 68 locations that are both safe and offer good train photo opportunities, most of which are located along the eastern line. These hotspots were recently announced on the official website.

In addition, Taiwan Railways has recently collaborated with the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications to launch the “Oh Bear Ride Call Train,” creating a new highlight for the Puyuma series with colorful Oh Bear designs. Following its appearances on Taipei Metro and Taiwan Railways’ local trains, “Chief Oh Bear” makes its first appearance on the Puyuma this year. The interior of the train is decorated with vibrant colors to create a cheerful atmosphere, and it promotes four major themes: “Polar Point Slow Travel,” “Welcome to Be a Blogger,” “Penghu Chrysanthemum Island Cross-Sea Marathon,” and “Taiwan’s Hot Springs – A Gastronomic Hot Spring Festival,” providing passengers with different visual and tourism event information.

Taiwan Railways has a total of 229 stations and over 1,100 kilometers of track. Each station, section of track, and bridge has its own unique charm. The main 68 train-chasing photography hotspots are located along the eastern line, including Duoliang Station, Taimali Sakuragi Level Crossing, Shanli Tunnel North Entrance, and Shincheng Station’s Nanbian Shouchen Bridge.
