The Red Bull Soapbox Race is an international event where racing enthusiasts compete in self-built vehicles. Amateur drivers race their homemade soapbox cars using courage, gravity, and imagination. In this gravity-powered race, both seasoned racers and newcomers build wild soapbox cars from scratch, racing down slopes against the clock and creating plenty of fun and entertainment. Since the first Soapbox Race held in Brussels, Belgium in 2000, Red Bull has organized countless races around the world — in places such as Australia, South Africa, Jamaica, and Italy.

The soapbox cars in the race come in all kinds of imaginative forms. Past entries have included a piano, a giant doll stroller, a cowboy clown, an oversized ear of corn, a prison cell, and even the Golden Gate Bridge. Taiwan hosted its first-ever “Red Bull Soapbox Race” in 2013, attracting much attention and numerous participants. This year, Taiwan is once again holding the “Red Bull Soapbox Race: Self-Made Imagination” on October 1st from 13:00 to 17:00 at National Taiwan Sport University.
