When autumn arrives, Japan gradually turns crimson with red leaves. In addition to enjoying the stunning maple scenery, you certainly shouldn’t miss the beauty of golden ginkgo trees. Below is the ginkgo front forecast released by the Japan Meteorological Agency. Based on last year’s front prediction, and considering that temperatures across Japan this year have generally been higher than usual and autumn has arrived later, it is estimated that Hokkaido will turn yellow later than last year, while the Tohoku region through Kyushu will reach peak foliage around the same time as last year.

Hokkaido usually begins to turn yellow around the end of September. Tokyo’s famous ginkgo viewing spot, “Meiji Jingu Gaien Ginkgo Avenue,” starts to turn yellow around mid-October, with late November to early December being the most beautiful period. In the Kansai region, the iconic “Osaka Castle Park” can be enjoyed around early November.
