Just as the China Airlines flight attendants' strike came to an end and tensions eased for less than 24 hours, news has emerged that the China Airlines Corporate Union will issue a statement at 16:00 this afternoon in front of the China Airlines counter at Songshan Airport, demanding equal treatment from the company. Otherwise, they too will take to the streets in a strike to fight for fair treatment.

The "China Airlines Corporate Union" includes flight attendants, ground staff, pilots, and others; whereas the "Taoyuan City Flight Attendants’ Union," which just concluded negotiations yesterday, is a separate body. On June 23, the China Airlines Corporate Union issued a statement to its internal employees saying that if the company (conceded to the strike), they would demand the same working conditions — including counting commuting time as working hours, providing equivalent allowances adjusted from $2 to $5, and restoring annual pay raises for ground staff members.

Yesterday, the seven demands put forward by the Taoyuan Flight Attendants’ Union received a positive response from China Airlines, with nearly all concessions granted. The demands are as follows:

1. A station allowance of $5 per hour overseas, non-members not eligible

2. Guarantee of 123 annual leave days, 8 monthly leave days, and 30 quarterly leave days

3. Implementation of two-way performance evaluations

4. Granting of official leave for flight attendants’ union representatives, directors, and supervisory board members

5. No changes to the current check-in locations and working hour calculation methods for members

6. Double pay for work on national holidays

7. Full coverage under the Labor Standards Act, except for overwater routes
