Japanese bookstore chain TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE opened its first store in Taiwan in early 2017 at Uni-President Times Square. It performed strongly in its first year, and besides planning to open a 360-ping standalone large-format store in Taichung in Q1 2018, there were also three stores launched by Ruentex through a franchise model at the end of 2017: CITY LINK Songshan No. 2, Neihu Ruentex Jingcai, and Nangang Store, rapidly expanding its presence to five locations across Taiwan.

Located at CITYLINK Songshan No. 2, TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Songshan Station Front Store covers an area of approximately 160 ping. The selection of books is managed by Japan’s TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE. Compared to Taipei’s first store, it not only adds more seating in the reading area but also includes an outdoor seating zone. It also introduces PB (PRIVATE BRAND) merchandise from the Ginza TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE. For dining, WIRED TOKYO is also on board to handle the food and beverage space planning. The store is expected to open at the end of November.
