New Taipei Christmas Town Gets an Upgrade: The World’s Only 360-Degree Light Projection Makes Its Debut

Each year, the largest-scale “2017 New Taipei City Happy Christmas Town” is coming soon. The event will run continuously for 39 days from November 24 this year (2017) to January 1 next year (2018)! This year’s Christmas Town is themed around a fantastical, joyful, and glamorous circus, sure to amaze visitors the moment they step in.

This year, the event has once again partnered with Singapore’s top projection team, which holds a Guinness World Record. Using up to 48 high-spec projectors, the hardware, special effects, projection range, and brightness have all been upgraded to create the “world’s only 360-degree 3D light projection Christmas tree.” For the first time, the area in front of the station plaza has been integrated, expanding the lighting zones from the previous two to three. It also marks the first use of high-tech intelligent moving projection technology, extending dazzling light projections onto the Banqiao Station building. This raises the total projection area to 8,794 square meters (equivalent to 21 basketball courts or 1.5 football fields), setting yet another impressive record.

What’s even more exciting is the brand-new “Christmas Light Dance,” premiering at the station plaza. A romantic sky curtain woven with white and gold hues, 12 dazzling computer-controlled spotlights, eight container markets adorned with ornate lights, along with the adorable Santa Bear-shaped stage and a dazzling Christmas tree combined with a spinning reindeer ride, will twinkle and dance in sync with themed music, transforming the station plaza into the most radiant and colorful Christmas wonderland.

On November 25 and 26, the highly anticipated “Kids’ Carnival” will take place, featuring beloved cartoon characters such as Pororo, Cheburashka, POLI, and Tayo. Don’t miss the photo meet-and-greet opportunities with the Santa Bear family and the Pororo family. Additionally, on November 25, a tree-lighting ceremony will be held at Banqiao Station Plaza, where snowflakes will fall from the sky—limited to that day only, so don’t miss out.

This year’s Happy Christmas Town has invited the globally adored “Penguin President Pororo (Pororo),” who will visit the Christmas Town with his cute animal family. Additionally, the ever-popular container market will be given a circus-themed makeover this year, featuring 18 container shops and five free rides—the “Royal Carousel,” “Snow White Flying Chair,” “Spinning Reindeer Forest,” “Christmas Express,” and “Speed Light Fighter”—ensuring endless fun for visitors.
