The New Year’s Eve gala is jointly hosted for the first time by veteran host Zoe Tseng and newly crowned Golden Bell Award winner Lam Po-chuen (KID). One brings a calm and reserved presence, while the other is lively and entertaining—both have been recognized as Best Hosts at the Golden Bell Awards, with KID also being the winner of this year’s Golden Bell Award for Best Host in a Game Show or Reality Program. Following her outstanding performance hosting the 2017 New Year’s Eve gala, Zoe Tseng has once again taken on the hosting duties. Her wealth of experience paired with KID’s playful style promises to deliver a unique show. The press conference also unveiled the first batch of performers, including singers Ding Dang, Crowd Lu, Bii (Shu-Jen Pi), Wei Bird, A-Lin, MJ116 (Playboyz), J. Zhou, and Maine Lin—the hottest and trendiest artists of the moment—all set to appear at the “2018 Taipei’s Most Exciting New Year’s Eve – New Year’s Eve Gala”!

As early as the evening of November 27th, preparations were underway for Taipei 101’s new long-strip light pattern, featuring words such as “Taipei,” “Happiness Together,” and “2018.” The rectangular light panels appeared in the middle section of the building, covering a larger area than previous displays, making them especially eye-catching and attracting the attention and photos of passersby nearby.

The “Frozen Carnival,” a collaboration between Taipei City’s Tourism and Travel Bureau, Taipei 101, and Disney, was held grandly from November 30th to January 14th of the following year at Taipei 101’s Water Dance Plaza. It featured an “ice-skating rink” flown in directly from the United States, a 12-meter-tall “Frozen Magic Christmas Tree” conjured by magic, a lifelike “Frozen Forest,” as well as an “Ice Town Market” with various interactive activities and merchandise—making it a highlight event in the Xinyi District this year.
