Wanglaoji Can Be Found in Taiwan Too！ The Iconic Century-Old Herbal Tea Opens Its First Overseas Store in Taipei

Wanglaoji, the canned herbal tea brand well known across China, was established during the Daoguang era of the Qing Dynasty (around 1828) and has a history of over 100 years. Now, it has set up shop in Taiwan with a “Herbal Tea Stall,” offering a departure from the previous image of canned drinks. The store adopts a physical retail style and is located in Taipei’s Shin Kong Mitsukoshi A11, New York New York Mall, becoming the world’s first “Wanglaoji Physical Herbal Tea Stall.”

Although it’s a century-old herbal tea brand, the physical store is decked out as if wearing a fashionable and vibrant outfit. With a striking blue base, complemented by the gourd-shaped drink bottles and a floral wall perfect for photos, it offers a refreshing departure from tradition.

In addition to using traditional herbal tea formulas, the Wanglaoji Herbal Tea Stall also combines local Taiwanese teas to create a uniquely well-balanced herbal tea flavor. To prevent the prepared herbal tea from being exposed to air—which could affect its aroma—custom tea columns have been specially made to ensure the best quality. Beyond the classic traditional herbal tea, there is also a “Milk Tea” version that includes fresh milk, allowing customers to choose according to their taste preferences and enjoy a flavor distinct from typical bubble tea.
