The Chamorro Night Market in Guam, which is only open on Wednesdays, gathers a variety of vendors offering everything from authentic Chamorro cuisine and Guam souvenirs to live band performances... Since it’s only open one day a week, both locals and tourists flock here, creating a lively and bustling atmosphere.

The Guam Chamorro Night Market is only open on Wednesdays. Since it operates just one day a week, the market offers a wide range of Chamorro dishes, various Guam souvenirs, clothes, jewelry, and other locally made crafts, as well as live band performances. It has everything for food, fun, and shopping—with diverse and reasonably priced items that attract both tourists and local residents every Wednesday evening.

Guam Chamorro cuisine mainly involves grilling meat. Whether it's grilled sausages or turkey drumsticks, they come in big sizes. Large sausages are sliced into smaller pieces using a cutter with fixed widths, then skewered in groups of three to be sold. One bite reveals juicy pork filling with a hint of smokiness that stimulates the appetite—you’ll just want to keep eating the whole sausage.

The grilled turkey drumstick is the stall’s signature dish—come late and you might miss out. These drumsticks, bigger than your face, are first marinated with spices, then smoked, and finally grilled over charcoal. The turkey meat is lean but not dry, and grilling brings out its natural sweetness. Especially with the huge size, holding one is quite a sight. The vendor says they prepare about 150 turkey drumsticks daily, but they often sell out. The record so far is selling 700–800 drumsticks in a single night—that’s astonishing!

The Chamorro Night Market isn’t just about great food and shopping—you can even listen to music and dance?! LEO Palace, similar to an event space, hosts live bands playing island music and pop hits every Wednesday when the market is open. The warmth and rhythm of the Chamorro people really shine here. Inspired by the music, the audience often joins in the dancing, doing the cha-cha as the night gets livelier.

Perhaps because the night market is only open once a week, the range of goods on sale is incredibly diverse—even featuring the unique experience of "water buffalo riding." For just $3, you can ride a water buffalo around the market. Different from typical horse or elephant rides, the width of a water buffalo’s back sits between that of a narrow horse and a broad elephant, making the ride surprisingly stable and comfortable.
