Japan’s First “Leopard Cat Café” – 12 Cats Live in a Forest Simulation, Super Healing!

In Kurashiki’s Bikan Historical Quarter in Okayama, Japan, the country’s only “leopard cat café” has been introduced as the latest popular attraction. The entire café is designed to resemble a forest, making visitors feel as if they’ve stepped into a woodland space. All 12 cats in the shop are leopard cats, and watching them play and frolic is absolutely adorable!

Japan’s first “leopard cat (Bengal cat) café” is located inside a variety store in a key shopping area of Kurashiki’s Bikan Historical Quarter. The shop offers a range of leopard cat-exclusive merchandise. Visitors must take off their shoes and go up to the second floor through an entrance alley to access the lush green leopard cat area. Café staff explained that the entire space is designed to mimic the leopard cats’ natural habitat, creating a forest-like environment.

The café features simulated woods and various detailed setups suitable for cats to play in. Before entering the leopard cat café, visitors must sanitize their hands and are not allowed to pick up the cats at will. There are about 12 leopard cats in the café, each resting in different corners, while some are more interactive and approachable, allowing visitors to get up close. This has attracted many travelers to visit specifically.

The “leopard cat café” charges 600 Japanese yen for every 30 minutes. Drinks must be ordered separately. Additionally, the indoor temperature is set to around 26 degrees Celsius to create a comfortable environment for the leopard cats. Seeing so many leopard cats together is truly a healing experience. However, visitors should note that raising leopard cats is not easy—following the café’s rules and being mindful not to disturb the cats is the best way to enjoy the space.
