One of the year’s three major meteor showers, the Geminid Meteor Shower is always a highly anticipated event for stargazers. The shower occurs annually between December 4 and December 17, and this year, measurements indicate that the peak is expected to occur at 14:30 Taiwan Time on December 14, with up to 120 meteors visible per hour.

The Geminid Meteor Shower not only features a high number of meteors but also moves at a relatively slow speed, making it one of the favorite targets for astronomy enthusiasts. According to the Central Weather Bureau’s Astronomy Station, this year’s peak is predicted to happen during the daytime. However, the Geminid Meteor Shower has a long distribution period for its peak activity, so from the night of December 14 to 4:00 AM on December 15 before moonrise in Taiwan, observers in areas with wide visibility and minimal light pollution still have a good chance of seeing numerous meteors.
