Taipei also has a bald cypress wonderland — a theme park transformed into a mini Yunshan Lake

As cold air sweeps across Taiwan, the bald cypresses are gradually turning red. In addition to well-known spots in Taoyuan, Yilan, and Hualien, there’s also a postcard-perfect hidden bald cypress park right in Taipei City. Located near the National Palace Museum, the “Indigenous Culture Theme Park” features vast green lawns and lakeside areas planted with over 10 bald cypress trees. The gradient of red, yellow, and green hues makes you feel as if you’ve stepped into an oil painting.

The Indigenous Culture Theme Park is the first park in Taiwan dedicated to indigenous culture. It presents indigenous styles and imagery in an abstract way, drawing inspiration from Vancouver’s Stanley Park. In front of the performance plaza stands a marble gate sculpture and two giant wooden totem poles. At the back of the park, there are eight cultural and artistic facilities showcasing indigenous heritage, including [specific installations], all created by indigenous artists from various tribes.

Since the park is adjacent to the National Palace Museum, visitors can not only explore the profound richness of Chinese culture at the museum but also relax at the theme park, appreciate indigenous culture rooted in Taiwan, and experience a unique cultural journey.
