Hualien is set to welcome a new world-class hotel attraction. The Dongyu Group has invested NT$5 billion to build the ultra-luxurious “Le Méridien Jessie Hualien” in Dongyang Plaza, Hualien City. The topping-out ceremony has been held, with completion scheduled for the end of 2019, making it a combined shopping mall, department store, and resort hotel — a new landmark for Eastern Taiwan.

Floors 1 to 5 of Le Méridien Jessie Hualien will house a shopping mall, while the 6th floor will feature a nearly 1,000-ping sky garden. Floors 6 to 21 will comprise the ultra-luxury hotel, offering 280 guest rooms, along with facilities such as a hot spring and a family playroom. Upon completion, it will not only attract more tourists to Hualien but also create thousands of job opportunities.
