The Korean movie "Along with the Gods" sparked much discussion upon its release in Taiwan, becoming the hottest film during the Christmas and New Year holiday season. It surpassed NT$100 million in box office revenue across Taiwan within just ten days of release, with global earnings exceeding 80 billion KRW. In addition to the hell scenes, which garnered attention for their stunning special effects, the real-life filming locations also drew interest.
This big-budget blockbuster, with a production cost of 40 billion KRW, was released in Korea on December 20, 2017, two days later in Taiwan, and on January 11, 2018, in Hong Kong. It will also be released in India and Malaysia. The film extensively uses special effects throughout its scenes, with the underworld and hell settings being particularly chilling. Many viewers left the theater more contemplative about the existence and nature of the "afterlife." The film carries a strong moralistic and cautionary message about doing good.
