Dreamy drinks continue to trend across Taiwan, with their gradient, rainbow, pastel, and fantastical hues bringing immense joy to beverage enthusiasts this summer. On June 28, a new series of whimsical hand-shaken drinks called “Northern Lights” and “Dawn” were launched, aiming to bring happiness and renewed hope—capturing fleeting natural beauty in a bottle so you can taste the flavors of joy and optimism.

On June 28, Slope Alley’s 14 outlets nationwide simultaneously launched two signature hand-shaken drinks: “Northern Lights” and “Dawn.” Ting, the person in charge of Slope Alley, explained that unlike regular hand-shaken beverages, Slope Alley wants its drinks to be more than just refreshments—they should also convey meaning. For example, Dawn represents tasting the first light of hope, while Northern Lights embodies capturing the essence of happiness, bottling those beautiful moments. Making a single “Northern Lights” or “Dawn” takes 6 to 10 minutes as each drink is freshly prepared on-site, which is why the quantity available each day is limited and sells out quickly. Ting also reminds customers that, due to the addition of fruit, it’s best to enjoy the drinks within 20 to 30 minutes.

Remember the thrill of staying up late as a child to watch the sunrise? Capturing that fleeting scenery and emotion, Slope Alley bottles that day’s “Dawn,” letting you hold the sunrise in your hands and sip it into your mouth. The drink is not only visually stunning but also carries the blessing of a fresh start. They say seeing the aurora borealis will make you happy for life. Unable to fly to the Arctic to see it in person, Slope Alley brings the Northern Lights into a bottle, using butterfly pea flowers to create fantastical purple and pink hues.

The founders, Ting and her partners, started out in design. Leveraging their expertise, they infused lifestyle aesthetics into everything from store interiors to cup and logo designs, striving to break away from the similarity often seen in chain hand-shaken drink shops. Most Slope Alley locations feature red brick as a base, then adjust details based on individual characteristics—for instance, the chatty owner designed a dining area to highlight the unique personality of each branch.
