Every cherry blossom season brings a variety of themed goods and treats, and Japanese convenience store LAWSON regularly launches cherry blossom desserts (ha-su-wiitsu)—a must-try when visiting Japan for hanami (cherry blossom viewing).

1. Sakura Mochi

Sakura mochi is a perennially popular cherry blossom dessert. This year, it uses an improved variety of rice, with a filling of red beans from Hokkaido that takes the deliciousness to the next level. Priced at 150 yen.

2. Sakura Perfume Jelly

This pink, transparent jelly has been highly praised since its launch in summer 2017. It contains essence extracted from domestic Japanese cherry blossom petals, offering a delicate and elegant cherry blossom fragrance, along with a bouncy texture that’s a favorite among dessert lovers. Priced at 150 yen.

3. Sakura Matcha Roll Cake

This dessert was co-developed by LAWSON and a team selected through a competition held by Nagoya Culinary Professional School. It features a pink sakura sauce, green matcha flavor, and white fresh cream, making it the Western-style cake representative among the three. Priced at 210 yen.
