The incredibly generous and great-value "White Peach Granita" is a top choice for cooling off in Okayama during summer. The teahouse "Zanmokuen," located within Okayama Castle, has launched a "White Peach Granita" using a whole peach for the summer season. The ingredients are refreshingly simple: besides shaved ice and syrup, the dessert is topped with a whole, juicy white peach. Among them, the sweet varieties "Shirohana" and "Hanayome" are available in early July.

While single white peaches can sell for thousands of yen in Tokyo’s Ginza district, here you can enjoy them for between 900 and 1,300 yen, depending on the variety. Take a bite of the white peach granita, and you’re first greeted by the cool, refreshing taste of the peach, followed by the icy texture—inside the ice are small chunks of white peach, offering a rich, juicy mouthfeel. There’s none of the artificial sweetness typical of Taiwanese-style granitas; instead, it’s filled with the fragrant aroma of fresh fruit, making it absolutely worth trying.

Address: Zanmokuen, Okayama Castle, Okayama City, Japan
Operating Hours: 9:00–17:00
Price: Between 900 and 1,300 yen
