Japanese Nagoya breakfast favorite Komeda Coffee opens first Taiwan branch

Nagoya’s iconic breakfast spot Komeda’s Coffee is opening its first store in Taiwan for the very first time. The popular local breakfast culture of getting grilled toast with your coffee in Nagoya has caught fans’ attention, making its unique breakfast tradition available in Taiwan for the first time.

The Komeda Coffee NL branch is located near Nanjing-Songjiang MRT Station in Zhongshan District. Nearby cafes include Bruno Coffee and LOUISA, and there’s also a 24-hour gyudon (beef bowl) restaurant. The area has intense F&B competition. However, with many Japanese businesses and travel agencies along Songjiang Road, plus a steady flow of hotel guests and tourists, the location was strategically chosen.

The Komeda Coffee NL branch offers a promotion: purchase coffee before 11 a.m. and enjoy a choice of three breakfast options, each featuring a thick slice of toast paired with delicious sides.

Komeda’s Coffee is a long-established coffee chain from Nagoya, Japan. Since its founding in 1968, it has grown to about 700 locations across Japan. The cafe offers various set meals such as boiled eggs with grilled toast, egg salad with grilled toast, and red bean paste with grilled toast.

The store serves its signature Komeda Coffee, as well as black tea and coffee milkshakes. For those who prefer savory options, popular items include the pork cutlet sandwich, miso pork cutlet sandwich, and shrimp cutlet sandwich, all priced moderately at NT$220.
