New spring outing idea for the Lunar New Year holiday！ Not sure where to go？ Fo Guang Shan in Kaohsiung is holding a 30-day Peace Lantern Festival during the Lunar New Year, and the highly anticipated “Illuminating the Universe” fireworks show will light up the sky for 15 consecutive nights with 300-second displays, inviting everyone to light lanterns and enjoy the fireworks together.

Fo Guang Shan’s 2019 Lunar New Year Peace Lantern Festival runs from February 5 to March 6, featuring a month-long lantern display themed “All Things Auspicious.” A variety of activities are offered to encourage families to visit the mountain and bring peace home at the start of the year.
The annual fireworks show draws large crowds every year.
This year’s Lunar New Year events feature many highlights, blending tradition with modernity. Visitors can experience the festivities through lantern lighting, bell ringing, lantern viewing, food tasting, and spring outings. They can also download a brand-new app and follow the adorable little novice monk on an AR-guided tour of all the scenic spots.
Last year’s fireworks show was spectacular and dazzling.
This year’s celebration features 5,000 hand-painted lanterns from across Taiwan displayed along the Buddha’s Pathway, which is highly eye-catching. From February 5 to February 19, every evening at 7 PM, the “Illuminating the Universe Blessing Activity and Lantern Parade” will take place, with fireworks simultaneously launched from the pagodas on both sides of the pathway and above the Great Buddha at the main hall. The 300-second fireworks display will light up the New Year’s night sky, allowing the public to fully enjoy the festive brilliance.
The fireworks show that attracts over 3 million visitors every year.
