Eating Sichuan spicy noodles in the Parisian countryside — Taiwan’s most European-style noodle shop

Located on a street in downtown Taichung, there’s a restaurant full of Parisian charm called “Chuan Laolao Paris Noodle Shop.” Its lavish decor and furnishings are also infused with a strong Gypsy vibe. Although it’s an exotic-looking storefront, what the shop offers is authentic Sichuan cuisine, masterfully blending European flair with bold Sichuan flavors without any discord, attracting many foodies and becoming a new culinary hotspot.

The decor inside the noodle shop consists of old antiques rich in history and stories, and the walls are adorned with uniquely styled paintings that seem to echo the shop’s philosophy. To serve the most authentic Sichuan-style noodles and braised dishes, the owner traveled to Sichuan to learn the craft, and every dish is meticulously prepared using natural ingredients.
