Plan Your Blossom Viewing Early: Top 7 Tung Blossom Spots Across Taiwan

Every spring and summer, Taiwan becomes blanketed in snow-white tung blossoms. Regions such as mountainous areas north of Chiayi, as well as eastern parts like Hualien and Taitung, are filled with breathtaking views of tung blossoms covering the hills. Especially in Hakka villages around Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli, April and May bring a flurry of white, creating some of the most beautiful scenery in Taiwan.

1. Taoyuan – Daxi Flower Farm
Daxi Flower Farm is one of the largest floral farms in northern Taiwan, spanning 17 hectares and home to over 4 million flowers. During tung blossom season, numerous rows of tung blossom trees are adorned with fluffy white blooms, and falling petals create a dreamy snow-like scene. As spring transitions into summer, colorful blooms in the flower fields also begin to flourish, making for a stunning and enchanting landscape.

The Tongluo Township Skywalk is a must-see high-altitude cycling route and an excellent spot for tung blossom viewing. Along the way, you can overlook tea plantations and ancient salt routes, enjoying expansive views and even a spectacular sunset. 

Transportation info: Exit at Sanyi Interchange -> Take Provincial Highway 13 into Sanyi town -> Head north toward Tongluo via the outer ring road -> Turn left at the Zhangjiu Bridge toward Jiuhuashan -> Arrive at the southern entrance of the Tongluo bicycle path

3. Miaoli – Shuangfengshan Cihui Hall Mountain TrailImage provided bySoaring through the sky
Shuangfengshan, one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Miaoli, offers a fantastic vantage point to admire the mountain’s beauty and the scenic plains of Tongluo. During tung blossom season, it becomes even more spectacular.

Transportation info: Exit at Tongluo Interchange -> Take Provincial Highway 13 (Jianfeng Highway, toward Sanyi) -> Turn left at the intersection in front of Shanlong Gas Station -> Go straight to the end, then turn left and immediately right -> Continue uphill to reach the destination

Shenzhao Mountain Trail, not particularly high in elevation, features lush greenery and is a popular hiking route for locals. During the Tung Blossom Festival, the white blossoms along the mountain path enhance the forest scenery, delighting visitors with unexpected beauty. 

Transportation info: Exit at Toufen Interchange on National Freeway 1, head toward Sanwan and turn left onto County Highway 124. At Shan Zhu Lake, turn right onto Provincial Highway 3, proceed toward Shitan for 106.8 km, then turn left at the sign and follow the mountain road to arrive.
