The adorable black bear painted on the rice field is a real eye-catcher – a must-photograph breathtaking rural view

Located in the countryside of Yuli Town, Hualien, there’s a giant, cute black bear lying in the rice field, carrying a schoolbag as if heading to school – an image that’s both heartwarming and healing. In 2017, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the name “Yuli,” the Yuli Town Office planted about 1.4 hectares of painted rice fields beneath the Xingnong Bridge next to the Hongqiao Bridge in Yuli, creating a lovely “Yuli Black Bear Painted Rice Field” on the vast rural canvas.

After harvesting, the rice field was replanted in February this year. With the theme of a black bear going to school, the artwork was created using rice plants to form the “Yuli Black Bear Painted Rice Field” on the land. Its adorable appearance has won the hearts of many visitors and attracted numerous tourists to come take photos.

The viewing period for the Yuli Black Bear Painted Rice Field is only five months, lasting until the end of August. Visitors who want to admire and take photos should seize the opportunity. Additionally, those wishing to take in the full view of the painted rice field and Yuli Town can stand on the Xingnong Bridge to enjoy the beauty of the green fields and the endless blue sky, with the occasional sight of trains passing by.

Aside from seeing the black bear painted rice field, visitors to Yuli Town can also explore other unique attractions such as the Yuli Shrine, Yuli Paradise Road on County Highway 193, and Yuli Wetlands, making for a great itinerary during a trip to Hualien.
