Beijing Capital Airport handles around 100 million passengers annually, making it the second busiest airport in the world. To alleviate the passenger load of Beijing Capital International Airport, Beijing Daxing International Airport was constructed at the border between Daxing District in Beijing and Langfang City in Hebei Province.

Designed jointly by British female architect Zaha Hadid and ADP Ingeniérie, the first phase of Daxing International Airport—Terminal 1—was planned to accommodate 72 million passengers, 2 million tons of cargo, and 620,000 aircraft movements annually by 2025.
The airport exterior boasts a design full of flair, futuristic appeal, and cutting-edge technology.
As a key transportation hub—the gateway of a nation—ground transport connections to the airport are indispensable. The engineering team also built two expressways, the Beijing-Xiong’an Intercity Railway linking Beijing to Xiong’an in Hebei, and the Airport Express subway line, enabling travelers to move through immigration and customs more quickly and conveniently.

Upon completion, Daxing International Airport will add four runways and 268 aircraft parking stands, effectively easing the flight load of Beijing Capital International Airport and improving future on-time performance. The main terminal adopts a radial single-point design, significantly reducing the distance travelers need to walk inside the airport—from the central hub to the farthest gate is just 600 meters. Travelers can also enjoy a new baggage check-in system that greatly cuts waiting time.
