Well-known American food blogger Hans Lienesch has been ranking ten best instant noodles every year since 2002, and he has recently released the 2018 list of the top ten delicious instant noodles again. After personally tasting over 200 types of instant noodles from around the world, this year the first place was once again claimed by Singapore’s Prima Taste Laksa La Mian. Among them, Taiwan made the list for the first time with two exceptionally flavorful instant noodles: Lao Ma Ban Mian’s Old Chengdu Dan Dan Noodles (7th place) and Taiwan Tobacco Baijiu Pasta (8th place), both achieving outstanding results.

This year, the 7th place winner, Lao Ma Ban Mian’s “Old Chengdu Dan Dan Noodles,” stood out with its unique flavor and texture. The noodles are hand-pulled and sun-dried using traditional methods from Guanmiao District, Tainan, paired with a red chili oil made from Sichuan peppercorns and canola oil, along with rich sesame paste, and finally topped with slightly crispy fried garlic bits. Its simple yet layered taste and distinctive Sichuan flavors make these Dan Dan noodles both unique and delicious.
