Michelin-recommended wonton noodles – Hong Kong’s authentic Chee Kei makes its Taiwan debut

Hong Kong’s famous “Chee Kei” wonton noodles is one of the most popular wonton noodle shops in the city. It won the Gold Award in the Wonton Noodles category at the Hong Kong Food Expo’s Grand Prix in 2001 and was also honored as one of the first Michelin-recommended local restaurants in Hong Kong in 2008. This authentic Hong Kong Chee Kei wonton noodles shop made its Taiwan debut in April, becoming the first department store branch in Taiwan.

Established in 1994, Chee Kei specializes in wonton noodles, supplemented by congee, sweet soups, rice dishes, and snacks. It currently has eight branches, including those on Percival Street in Causeway Bay, Langham Place in Mong Kok, Telford Plaza in Kowloon Bay, Kowloon Tong, Lock Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, Connaught Road Central in Central, as well as stores at Hong Kong International Airport and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. Its latest branch at Taipei Main Station under Breeze is its ninth and also its first department store location in Taiwan.

Chee Kei’s most famous wonton noodles are handmade and shaped like goldfish, with an emphasis on thin wrappers and fresh fillings. The broth is cooked using a proprietary recipe with ingredients such as pork bones, flounder, and shrimp shells. This allows Chee Kei, despite not being an old-established brand, to become a representative local food of Hong Kong.
