The red envelopes given out by Mayor Han Kuo-yu contain NT$10 each. Although this once sparked controversy, the city government explained that it is an annual fixed event and part of the budget. As such, even though Han had just taken office, he followed through with the plan to distribute the envelopes before the Lunar New Year. These distribution points are mostly at local temples, which unexpectedly sparked discussions and long queues. Aside from getting the red envelope, many fans also wanted to catch a glimpse of Mayor Han in person — turning these locations into unexpectedly popular hotspots.
Here is Mayor Han Kuo-yu’s red envelope distribution itinerary:
1/26 at 2pm @ Yuhuang Temple, Sanchong District
1/27 at 2pm @ Jiaosu Tianhou Temple, Yancao District
1/27 at 4pm @ Fengqiao Temple, Qiaotou District
1/28 at 11am @ Qianzheng Town South Temple, Qianzhen District (Foundation)
1/28 at 2pm @ Fengyi Temple, Xiaogang District
1/31 at 10am @ Zhongcheng Temple, Zihguan District
1/31 at 11am @ Tong’an Temple, Zihguan District
1/31 at 4pm @ Chaozhong Temple, Daliao District
1/31 at 5pm @ Fengshan Taishe Temple
Note: The 2/1 3pm session at the Sihwei Administrative Center of the Kaohsiung City Government will not feature the mayor due to schedule adjustments (red envelopes will still be distributed)
