As Typhoon Maria approached Taiwan, Taipei City declared a work and school suspension at 16:00, prompting a rush of people leaving work. Major MRT stations were inundated with commuters heading home, especially at multi-line transfer hubs where the platforms were packed. Many passengers had to wait on the platform for quite a while.
