Taiwan's first Leica House settles in a Japanese-style old house; Wu Bai shares photography with his favorite camera

The building housing "Leica House Taipei" was reconstructed from a dormitory of National Taiwan University, preserving the traditional architectural features of the Japanese colonial period. The air is filled with a strong sense of history. To honor the transition between old and new generations, "Leica House Taipei" retained every brick and tile of the original roof and beams.

At the same time, it incorporates the simple and meticulous characteristics of Japanese architecture. The fully glass-roofed space, where sunlight pours in freely, symbolizes the importance of light and shadow in photography. Leica cameras remain true to the pursuit of the "decisive moment," and the unhidden reality under sunlight is also a core value that Leica cameras aim to convey.

At Leica House, time seems to stand still. The outdoor garden courtyard features cherry blossom trees that evoke the romantic vibe of spring; lush green bamboo that brings the refreshing clarity of summer and mango trees representing Taiwan’s tropical flavor; osmanthus trees that symbolize the gentle and mellow essence of autumn; and maple trees, elegant and intense, heralding the early days of winter. Time flows through this space, as if experiencing all four seasons of Taipei.
