Photographing a translucent building for a magical feel – This summer’s must-visit new IG hotspot

The Taipei Fine Arts Museum closed last October for a series of renovation projects. Although the interior has been off-limits for nine months, the outdoor space continues to host a range of activities. Continuing last year’s theme “Action Research on the Maintenance Workshop,” the open call was won by the Dalin Workshop’s project “OO.” Its unique translucent architecture will be exhibited until the end of July, becoming this summer’s new hotspot for photos.

Taipei Fine Arts Museum’s 2018 fifth X-Site project continued last year’s theme “Action Research on the Maintenance Workshop,” responding to the issue of building hardware renovations with an open call for submissions. After a two-stage selection process, the project “OO” stood out, using everyday elements collaged together to form a shifting dreamscape—like a fantastical building leaping out of a dream.

The exterior of “OO” consists of two towering cylindrical architectural installations. Translucent wave panels create the visual effect of curved space, while slender scaffolding achieves structural balance that disturbs the space. With regulated lighting, they overlap to produce dynamic effects of compression and release, reinterpreting everyday maintenance visuals into an artistic experience.
