Over the past weekend, a cold front swept through the central and northeastern United States, transforming the Niagara Falls — located on the border between the U.S. and Canada — into a fairytale-like wonderland reminiscent of the movie *Frozen*. With temperatures dropping to -20°C, parts of the falls became completely frozen. It was reported that the wind chill made it feel as cold as -35°C, discouraging all but the bravest visitors from venturing out to explore the falls. Those who braved the cold were rewarded with a breathtaking, otherworldly white landscape.

Although Niagara Falls has experienced freezing weather in the past, residents of Ontario, Canada, and New York State, USA, were still amazed by this magical sight. Due to the high humidity around the falls, cold air easily leads to thick layers of frost and snow. In early 2018, photographer Adam Klekota captured another atmospheric snowy world under colorful lights on an evening during the cold snap.
