Located in Pingtung, the Liangshan Recreational Area is part of the Maolin National Scenic Area. In addition to its majestic mountain and forest scenery, the park also features many playful and whimsical art installations. Among them is the popular IG photo spot: the hobbit’s home—a small house with colorful little doors that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a movie scene when you take pictures here. It’s really fun and charming.

The park also has many brightly colored and eye-catching facilities that decorate this green mountain forest. This makes Liangshan Recreational Area not just a place for hiking—those who don’t enjoy hiking can still come just to take photos and enjoy the surrounding lush mountain views. It’s a great alternative option too.

The main natural attraction of the Liangshan Recreational Area is the “Liangshan Waterfall,” which has three tiers. The first tier is relatively small and can be reached without strenuous hiking.

Viewing the second and third tiers of the waterfall is a bit more challenging, as it requires hiking up a mountain trail. Along the way, besides enjoying beautiful mountain views, you can also admire the streams and rocks. It takes about 1.5 kilometers of hiking to reach the third-tier waterfall, with a round trip taking around 1.5 hours. Hike while breathing in the forest’s phytoncides.
