From August 17 to September 2, Shimogamo Shrine is hosting a limited-time “|???庵?赖洹保 collaborating with globally beloved art collective teamLab to transform the shrine into a magical, mysterious space that shares the sensibility of Japanese beauty with the world.

teamLab has created an artistic space within the UNESCO World Heritage site Shimogamo Shrine, featuring the works “Resonating Trees – Forest of Tadasu at Shimogamo Shrine” and “Resonating Spheres – Forest of Tadasu at Shimogamo Shrine”.
teamLab has turned the UNESCO World Heritage site Shimogamo Shrine into an artistic space.
“Resonating Trees” are placed in pairs on both sides of the approach to the shrine, maintaining a consistent form. When one tree emits light, the other tree on the opposite side also emits light simultaneously but not in sync. When approached, the trees change color and emit a color-specific tone that harmonizes with those nearby.

“Resonating Spheres – Forest of Tadasu at Shimogamo Shrine” are glowing spheres floating within the inner space of the shrine’s Romon (tower gate). When stimulated by external interaction, the colors of the light change and emit a unique tone corresponding to that color, while also affecting the colors and tones of nearby spheres.
