This year’s National Day not only features the dazzling Hualien sea fireworks show, but the National Palace Museum Southern Branch is also marking its anniversary with a magical light sculpture art performance. Alongside a 200-meter static light beam, there are three dynamic sound-and-light shows every hour. The interplay of light and shadow with the museum's architecture and garden scenery illuminates Chiayi’s night sky in a riot of colors.

This time, the National Palace Museum Southern Branch has collaborated with top-tier teams behind the 2017 National Day light show and the Taipei 101 New Year’s Eve fireworks. Through music and optical design, they delicately showcase the architectural aesthetics of the Southern Branch. Visitors can stroll along the lakeside paths in the park and experience the nighttime scenery of the southern campus of the Palace Museum.

To encourage visitors to slow down and savor the light show, the Southern Branch has partnered with the Chiayi Traditional Culture and Skills Association. From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., food stalls are set up in the plaza of the Visitor Center, featuring Southeast Asian cuisines such as Filipino chicken nuggets, Vietnamese cheese mooncakes, spicy crab, bak kut teh, Hainanese chicken rice, Fujian shrimp noodles, and Indonesian banana bread.

From September 27 to November 4, light sculpture art performances are held every Tuesday to Sunday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a total of eight shows per day.
