Tainan City Art Museum announced that Branch 1 will begin trial operation on October 17 and that both Branch 1 and Branch 2 will open simultaneously on December 15, with free admission available until March next year.

Both branches of Tainan Art Museum are located in Tainan’s West Central District, an area rich in cultural history and home to the highest concentration of historic sites. Branch 1 was formerly the “Former Tainan Police Station,” a municipal designated historic site built during the Japanese colonial period. The museum features a Western architectural exterior imbued with Japanese aesthetics, making it quite unique.

Meanwhile, Branch 2, which is still under construction, is built on the site of the Parking Lot of Public Park 11. It adopts a cutting-edge design as its main architectural style. The location of Branch 2 has hosted buildings from both the Qing Dynasty and the Japanese colonial period. After undergoing historical changes, it was eventually transformed into Public Park 11.

Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that Tainan Art Museum also serves as a “Center for Art Science Research,” making it Taiwan’s first art museum capable of restoring and analyzing paintings.
