However, recent reports suggest that due to flight safety concerns, the Civil Aeronautics Administration plans to designate Aircraft Alley as a restricted area by the end of 2018. Regarding the news that Aircraft Alley will be designated as a restricted area and closed by the end of the year, the Civil Aeronautics Administration clarified that Songshan Airport is expanding its runway to comply with the latest international standards, which requires acquiring land for airport use. However, due to the complexity of the procedures and planning, and the uncertainty of the renovation project, demolition and expansion are not expected to begin until 2020 at the earliest. Moreover, Aircraft Alley will only undergo minor rerouting, and the new road will be slightly farther from the airport. The alley will not be closed, and visitors can still enjoy the sight of planes taking off and landing.
