The main factor causing maple leaves to change color is temperature. When the temperature drops to around 10 degrees Celsius, the leaves, sensing the change, will gradually begin to change color.
Currently, the maple leaves at Aowanda National Forest Recreation Area have only just begun to change color. You’ll have to wait until the end of October, when the first cold front of the official autumn season moves southward, bringing the park’s temperature down to 10 degrees Celsius.
