The Shinmaywa Group, in collaboration with internationally renowned architect Kengo Kuma, has unveiled the design concept of “Shinmaywa Forest.” In addition to connecting the artistic and cultural axis of Taichung’s Caotun Boulevard, the project also presents the “Kengo Kuma Materials Park” exhibition.

Through Master Kengo Kuma’s “negative architecture” style, the surrounding environment of Caotun Boulevard is transformed into the main focus, breaking down the barriers between nature and architecture to create an artful living axis of symbiosis and shared prosperity.
The “Kengo Kuma Materials Park” exhibition, held at the Shinmaywa Museum of Art from November 3 to December 30, is the third stop in Asia following Tokyo and Shanghai, and also marks Kengo Kuma’s first exhibition in Taiwan.
Kengo Kuma attended the press conference for his first personal exhibition in Taiwan.
The exhibition brings together multiple classic works by Kengo Kuma, including his architecture in Tokyo’s Omotesando, Mont Blanc in France, and Casagrande in Italy. It features the first-ever large-scale outdoor installation by the architect. Beyond visual appreciation through imagery, it also offers visitors a completely new experience via virtual reality installations and interactive artworks.
Kengo Kuma holds a very favorable impression of Taichung and places great importance on the city’s green, stroll-friendly atmosphere. He expressed great joy and anticipation about showcasing his works and concepts along Caotun Boulevard.
