Take your girlfriend to the mountains: A full guide to a one-day date in Yangmingshan

As autumn arrives, although the hydrangeas and calla lilies of Yangmingshan may be gone, there are still many stunning spots where you can take your girlfriend for a walk in the mountains, snap some beautiful photos for her, and let nature help you sweep her off her feet.

Start your morning by taking your girlfriend up the mountain tothe Black Forest in Zhuzihu, Yangmingshan, known as the Taipei version of the “Forest of No Worries.” Its dense woods are filled with the essence of nature. It's a must-shoot spot for wedding photography, and the heart-shaped installations in the park are popular backdrops for couples.

When you’re tired from walking, head to the Starbucks Grass Mountain Branch located in the former U.S. military dependents’ housing area. The place is filled with the rich aroma of coffee combined with an ambiance that blends American country style with modern art. Find a seat, enjoy a cup of coffee, and take a break. The interior decor is absolutely lovely and makes for great photo opportunities with your girlfriend.

In the afternoon, take your girlfriend to climb at Lengshuikeng. The vast fields of silvery-white silvergrass waves turn into dazzling golden hues when sunlight hits them. Walking through the sea of silvergrass feels like being surrounded by light golden feathers. When the sun hides behind the clouds, the silvergrass fields take on a slightly melancholic feel—perfect for capturing that autumn vibe in photos.

Heading toward Jinshan, you’ll find the Bayan Settlement, which preserves the rare large-scale terraced field landscapes and traditional stone irrigation channels of northern Taiwan. With clear water, rich ecology, and abundant mountain stream flow, the area is often shrouded in mist year-round, giving the Bayan Settlement unique cultural and ecological features—with plenty of scenic spots perfect for photos.
