As December arrives, this autumn has been unusually warm, and only recently have we finally begun to feel the first chill of early winter. Pay a little closer attention to your surroundings, and you’ll notice nature quietly beginning to change colors. If you want to admire foliage in transition, heading up to the mountains is the way to go.

For travelers who want to see colorful foliage, the colder the spot, the better—but if you don’t want to venture too far on a holiday, Yangmingshan is a great place to enjoy the show.
Nature adorns itself in beautiful colors as the climate shifts.
At the Flower Trial Center and Qianshan Park on the mid-slopes of Yangmingshan, ginkgo and maple leaves have already begun quietly turning yellow and red.
Some camellias on Yangmingshan have also started to bloom earlier than usual.
The Flower Trial Center also has ginkgo trees planted, which have now turned yellow and will shed their leaves by December—you can come here to admire the full beauty of golden ginkgo trees.

Around Qianshan Park on Yangmingshan, sweetgum and green maple trees are widely planted, and they are currently transitioning from yellow to red—especially near the basketball court at Qianshan Park, which is a great spot for maple leaf viewing.
