During the 2017/18 winter season, the number of nights spent by Taiwanese tourists in Switzerland increased by 11.6% year-on-year, reaching 44,382 nights. This indicates that winter tourism growth outpaces the annual average, yet winter nights still only account for 22.7% of the annual total, suggesting significant potential for further development. According to data analysis by Switzerland Tourism, most independent travelers from Greater China visiting Switzerland in winter are first-time visitors. They seek authentic mountain experiences, with 85.2% staying four nights or more, over half choosing hotel accommodations, 78.8% using public transportation such as trains, and 55.4% spending over 200 Swiss Francs per day—significantly higher than winter tourists from other countries.
