“Japan Tohoku Fun Day” will be grandly held at Huashan 1914 Creative Park from December 14 to 16. Celebrating its fifth anniversary, this year offers more authentic festivals and entertainment experiences from Japan’s Tohoku region than ever before!

During the three-day event, in addition to various festivals and hands-on experiences, attendees can also get on-site airline tickets, accommodation vouchers, early-bird red packets, as well as chances to win a limited-edition stamp set and photo album of Olympic legend Yuzuru Hanyu. The annual standing-bar sake tasting featuring 60 types of sake has been upgraded this year with over 50 types available at various booths, along with complimentary side dishes, ensuring a full day of food, drinks, and fun!

Only 19 people in the world are certified as LEGO Masters by the LEGO Group, and Taiwan has one of them. For this “Japan Tohoku Fun Day,” we have specially collaborated with Dr. Huang Yan-Zhi, a LEGO Master, to create the artwork “Sprout of Hope.” On-site, bricks are sold at cost price of NT$5 each and can be signed by visitors, allowing everyone to contribute to building the “Sprout of Hope” alongside the LEGO Master. After the event, this LEGO masterpiece will be moved to JR Sendai Station, continuing to showcase the deep friendship between Taiwan and Japan’s Tohoku region.

The most popular act at Japan Tohoku Fun Day each year—the Akita Oni Taiko Drumming—features the traditional Oga Peninsula Oni ritual culture, which was officially inscribed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage on November 29, 2018! To celebrate this joyous occasion, Japan Tohoku Fun Day has specially added the famous Akita “Kanamara Matsuri” (Lantern Festival) to the Taiwan event.

“Japan Tohoku Fun Day” will prepare 500 early-bird red packets for attendees each day. Those who arrive early enough will have a chance to get one. Inside the red packets are various hidden mystery gifts, including airline tickets, accommodation vouchers, JR East Japan limited-edition bento boxes, on-site food and beer exchange coupons, and even mini LEGO bricks that allow you to co-create with the LEGO Master!
