Right at the start of 2016, an architectural selection was released — 9 buildings chosen by CNN as the “Most Anticipated New Urban Landmarks of 2016.” We previously shared Must-see: 9 Most Stunning Landmarks of 2016 (Part 1), and now here comes the second part!
National Museum of African American History and Culture (Washington, D.C.)
The exterior of the museum is made up of intricate bronze mesh, commemorating the contributions of formerly enslaved African Americans from the Southern U.S., who later played a significant role in the ironwork industry after gaining their freedom.
Ping An Finance Center (Shenzhen)
It was selected as a high-standard “green building,” which is really quite an honor.
Tao Zhu Yin Yuan (Taipei)
Designed by a French architect, Tao Zhu Yin Yuan features a rotating façade and is centered around eco-friendly concepts. It includes several gardens and terraces, can recycle organic waste and water on its own, and even has a solar power generation system. It is expected to become one of the most environmentally friendly buildings in the world.
Taipei Performing Arts Center (Taipei)
Construction began in 2012, and the main structure is expected to be completed by June next year. The soon-to-open Taipei Performing Arts Center features a square-shaped building that supports a giant floating sphere in mid-air — the design is really cool.
