Don’t want to stay at home during a break, but too lazy to drive out of town and get stuck in traffic? Here are five peaceful spots in Taipei where travelers can leave the noise behind by just taking the MRT, breathe some fresh air, and recharge both body and mind.
 
1.MRT Xindian Station – Bitan (Bitan Lake)
After arriving at Xindian Station via MRT, head toward Bitan and you can first stroll along Bitan Old Street, then walk across the famous Bitan Suspension Bridge. Whether in daylight or under night skies, it’s incredibly beautiful. You can also rent a swan paddle boat to admire the lakeside scenery from a different angle, or walk to nearby Hebei Mountain Trail, which offers a fantastic view overlooking the entire Bitan area.

2.MRT Gongguan Station Baozangyan (Treasure Cave Mountain)
Nestled in a quiet corner of Taipei, Baozangyan shines like a beacon in the city, guiding people through the noise to pursue forgotten dreams and treasures. 3.MRT Dahu Park Station Dahu Park

4.MRT Xiangshan Station Xiangshan (Elephant Mountain)
After arriving at Xiangshan Station via MRT, make your way toward the entrance of the Xiangshan Hiking Trail. Along the way, you’ll pass Zhongqiang Park, the Six Giant Rocks, photography platforms, the One-Line Sky crevice, Giant Rock Park, Shiru Garden, and the Elephant-Themed Wall on the Municipal Therapy Trail, before returning to Xiangshan Station. The area is rich in ecology and biodiversity, especially the diverse fern species on the mountainside, making it known as Taipei’s “fern diversity ecological classroom.” From here, you can also enjoy the dazzling night view of Taipei City.

5. MRT Xinbeitou Station – Geothermal Valley
Take the Beitou branch line of the MRT to Xinbeitou. Follow the scent of sulfur wafting through the air as you head uphill—you’ll first pass the lush Beitou Park, where you can sit and enjoy the serenity in what’s been called the most beautiful library in Taiwan, the Beitou Library. Continue upward to visit the Thermal Valley Museum and the old street to get a sense of the area’s past vibrancy, and finally, make your way to Geothermal Valley to witness the miraculous beauty of nature.
