Narita Airport installs 116 new self-service check-in kiosks, available to passengers of all 17 Star Alliance airlines

Star Alliance has added 116 self-service check-in counters in the South Wing of Terminal 1 at Tokyo Narita Airport. The new setup allows passengers to print both boarding passes and baggage tags simultaneously, offering a more efficient and diverse range of check-in options. This makes Star Alliance the first airline alliance in Japan to introduce self-service check-in and self-bag drop services for international travelers.

Among the self-service check-in counters newly installed by Star Alliance, except for Air India which is stationed in Terminal 2, passengers of the other 17 member airlines located in Terminal 1, includingEVA Air, Air Canada, Air China, Air New Zealand, All Nippon Airways, Austrian Airlines, Asiana Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, Turkish Airlines, Thai Airways, and United Airlinescan now use these kiosks for check-in starting today.

After using the self-service check-in kiosk to select a seat, passengers traveling with only carry-on luggage can proceed directly to the boarding gate after printing their boarding pass. Passengers with checked baggage can also print their baggage tags at the same kiosk, attach the tags themselves, and then drop off their luggage at the dedicated self-bag drop counters to complete the process. Traditional manual check-in counters will still be available to serve First Class, Business Class, Star Alliance Gold members, and other Economy Class passengers who require special assistance.
